Bedsheets, Socks + Underwear

Years ago, I came across a mom who said her laundry life changed when she got all her kids the exact same bedsheets.

Sometimes it’s just that simple.

From that moment on, I decided that all of my kids would get plain white cotton bed sheets. Then that decision led me to getting all of my kids plain white socks. Then that decision led to… and what about just plain underwear?!

No more matching loose sheets to fitted sheets to girls’ rooms to boys’ rooms…no more “where did I last see that pink toed other sock? I guess it’s going back in this bin for now…” (only to taunt you)…I tossed all the patterns and colors for simply white.

Sometimes the mental load of house management can be solved in one swift decision to take away the teeny, tiny recurring hiccups of the day—and matching (or not matching) laundry is definitely a big one for me.

I’ve loved the simplicity and time I’ve gotten back from this simple switch. I’ve loved it so much that I’ve paired my own bed sheets down to just two. One white set and one brown set—each of which mix and match with eachother if I so choose. Simple. Plus my one linen duvet cover from Quince.
