Mindful Mom’s Nontoxic Essentials Guide

After years of research + testing nontoxic products for my everyday life, I’ve finally settled on specific brands that are equally affordable + effective! Here’s my cheat sheet for what I’m using right now! Plus, you can scoop these up for less than their usual price with Black Friday deals right now.

Hair + Body Wash

  • Everyone for Every Body 3-in-1 I buy this shampoo, body wash + bubble bath combo by the gallon. Then I simply refill all bathroom hand soap dispensers + shower soap dispensers as needed.

    • This brand touts, “it’s EWG verified… and without parabens, phthalates or synthetic fragrances. We partner with organic and regenerative growers to ensure the highest quality blends in each and every bottle.”

  • ATTITUDE Colorlast Shampoo and Clarifying Shampoo

    • EWG Certified + many other products available from this brand

Hair Dye

  • If you’re one to dye your hair at all, Naturtint is a solid, clean option that’s even available at Whole Foods. The color holds well, lasts about 5 weeks and reduces your exposure to harsh dye chemicals!

Face Care

  • Primally Pure cleansing oil is a longtime staple in my skincare routine. I’ve tried a handful of their products and enjoyed them all.

    • Organic, clean Ingredients that work!

  • Cocokind is an affordable organic skincare brand that’s even sold at Target. I’ve personally enjoyed their brightening eye cream for soothing relief with a cold metal tip that wakes up my under-eyes. The resurrection peptide cream is great too, plus I love their vitamin C serum!

    • Their transparency commitment to clean ingredients leads the industry.

Makeup

  • OGEE blush, concealer + foundation rank 10/10 for me. The mascara is good too. I’ve tried many clean makeup brands and this is the one I keep coming back too. Nothing else I’ve tried has lasted quite as long or blended quite as perfectly.

    • Ogee boasts the highest standards via their NSF Organic Certification.

Deodorant + Toothpaste:

  • Both of these items come from Zebra and my husband and I love them! The toothpaste contains the cleanest ingredients I’ve found, plus your mouth feels clean! The toothpaste comes in mint, coconut and birthday cake flavor! The deodorants are great—smell amazing and come in baking soda-free options. One application lasts me about an eight-hour day.

Surface Cleaners

  • I buy Branch Basics concentrate in bulk once a year during their annual sale. I keep three glass spray bottles throughout my kitchen and bathrooms and use this daily to wipe down surfaces. It’s unscented, so I do add my own DoTERRA essential oils to some bottles. I’m a sucker for a clean house smelling like lemon or eucalyptus.

  • Briotech HCLO Disinfectant is my go-to for truly sanitizing germs—I buy this by the gallon and refill spray bottles as needed.

  • Cleaning vinegar or white vinegar mixed with equal parts water is a lesser but still effective surface cleaner that’s nontoxic + so cheap!

Laundry

Dishwasher Detergent

While we’re here, let’s throw in kitchen items right quick!

Cookware

  • Lodge Cast Iron Skillets + Homichef Stainless Steel pots and pans are great non-toxic AND inexpensive cookware options—compared to the many fancy nontoxic brands out there. The cast iron will last you decades if cared for properly. The stainless steel will last you a long time as well. But I will say, these both require more upkeep than a traditional non-stick pan. It’s just how it goes when you prioritize cleaner cookware.

Kid Cups

  • Finally a cup that checks ALL of my boxes for toddlers. I realize this is a super specific choice based on ages of your kids, but all of mine are toddler age and I love it for its 18/8 stainless steel cup, clear lid that lets me see what’s in the cup, option for a straw or sippy, and the lid closure. I also purchase clear reusable straws for them because I want to be able to see if there is any gunk in our straws!
